Thing 23

As I come to the last of the 23 things, I am a bit overwhelmed at the amount of information that can be found and the many different things that can can be learnt along the way. I found some of the things interesting, others not so much. I was also sometimes frustrated when I could not send uploads to my blog. I would have liked more help in this area, as I found I wasted alot of time along the way.

I found the course good for me (as a student) to help me understand the frustrations my students feel when they do not understand something. I probably will not use any of the 23 things in my classroom (at the moment) as we do not have enough resources.

Also, I would need to be much more competent and confident to deliver some of these things in my classroom. I find our younger students just know so so much.. I now know why they can spend hours in front of a computer. To be very honest, I myself like to be creative in a more hands on approach, which is probably because of the industry I am involved in.

On saying that, I did enjoy the journey and hopefully will learn lots more.

WEEK 9

THINGS 20 21 AND 22

I went into Youtube, Had a look at introducing the book, ( very funny) I am interested in music so clicked onto some music video's, some quite good stuff here.

Understand a bit more about Podcasts, through Yahoo, podcast.net and went into educational Podcast. Looked up Art and then listened to some of the Podcasts from some art students on how to make various things. I found the audio a bit hard to understand and some spoke too quickly. I can see some interesting ideas for the classroom here if the students had the time.

I found E books and Audio books a really interesting concept and could be very useful in a classroom situation. As our students have very different learning styles this could be an advantage for some.

WEEK 8

THINGS 17 AND 18

Had a look into Zoho writer which allows you to create a document, edit it and then share, I was unable to get into this site to join and create a doc, but I will try again later.

Library thing was really good, I signed up and then put in a search for books on garden sculptures, (which I had been looking for earlier) How quick this tool is for finding anything you are interested in. Do Libraries do this?

WEEK 7

THINGS 16 AND 17

I found Wikis the online encyopedia an amazing tool. Which anyone can edit??I would like to understand how this works further. I also went into the sandbox and entered a comment, which i will go back to. It will be interesteing to see what others had written on the entry which was about a dog and a cat.

Week 6

Thing 13 14 and 15

For these exercises I entered del.icio.us./SJLibrarylearning2 and Technorati. I then picked a site at random, which was Internet Scout program. It focuses on developing better tools for online projects. I picked a tag - Education on another site and then another tag -Teaching. It was really very interesting reading, so much useful information on all facets of teaching, resources, ideas and problems that may occur. I think this is a great and useful site for any teacher new or experienced. I found it had great ideas for the classroom and keeping students, motivated. Using tags has its advantages although - again, you could spend hours searching and reading, there are so many tags which could be a disadvantage as there is so much information it could all become just a bit too much to take in. The disney movie was interesting.
